Tars Run Past Sailfish.

The Rollins Tars improved to 1-2 on the season with a 83-61 win over Palm Beach Atlantic (0-1) in the Tars home opener at Warden Arena on Tuesday night.
Coming off a 0-2 trip to Las Vegas to start the season the Tars got out of the gates quickly and never looked back in this one. Adam Allen paced the Tars with a career high tying 20 points in the game. Three other Tars scored in double figures on the night. Mitch Woods used five 3-pointer's en route to a 17 point night to go along with five assists. Chris Uhle netted 11 points and six rebounds, while Jeff Dirkin chipped in 10 points, to go with three blocks and a pair of steals. The Tars shot 51 percent for the game, they also knocked down 46 percent (15-33) from the 3-point line. Rollins was six of nine (67 percent at the foul line.) The Tars had a solid game with 25 assists on 31 made field goals. They also did a much better job of taking care of the basketball than they did in Vegas. The Tars had just 10 turnovers Tuesday.
The Sailfish will be a much improved team from the one that managed just one win a year ago. They were led by Evin Graham who had 13 points, four rebounds and five assists. Clayton Williams chipped in 10, and Christian Martinez added nine.
PBA shot 40 percent from the floor on the evening. The Sailfish were seven of 17 from the 3-point line and made 70 percent (14-20 free throws.) The Sailfish edged the Tars on the boards 33-32. PBA had 14 assists and 17 turnovers.
Led by a hot shooting Allen, the Tars jumped out to a 19-7 lead midway thru the opening half. The Sailifish briefly got the lead into single digits before a barrage of three's led by Mitch Woods gave the Tars a 21 point lead (40-19) with 2:53 left in the half. The Sailfish would then score the last 12 points of the half to cut the Tars deficit to nine (40-31) at the intermission.
PBA would get the lead down to seven early in the second half, but then Woods would nail a pair of 3-pointer's to stretch the lead to 11 (50-39.) The Tars would then make another run and a put back jam by Lukas Winegarner would make it 63-45 Rollins. The Sailfish would get no closer than 15 the rest of the way.  Rollins would avoid there first 0-3 start since the 1983-84 season.
Rollins will take a week off and will host the Warner Royals on Tuesday. As always you can catch all the action on 91.5 FM WPRK and worldwide at RollinsSports.TV. with Jim "Shooter" Ferro" and Robert Seagull. Tip time next Tuesday is set for 7 PM.
