The Rollins Tars (7-7 2-3 SSC) will battle the Sharks of Nova Southeastern (5-10 2-2 SSC) in a weekend matchup at the "Shark Tank" Saturday at 4 PM. The game will be the second in a three game South Florida trip for the Tars as they head to Fort Lauderdale to play inside the Don Taft University Center.
The Tars have lost two in a row by a total of 10 points. Wednesday was a tough 70-67 loss at Lynn that Rollins led almost the entire way. The Tars were doomed by going 9-20 at the foul line- and were -8 in rebounding margin. The loss was just the third time this season that the Tars have allowed 70 points. Alex Blessig led the way on Wednesday with 14 points and eight rebounds. Scott Shuette scored in double figures for the fifth consecutive game as he netted 12. The Tars are ninth in the league on offense, as they score just 67.6 points a contest. On the other end they lead the league allowing just 62.4 points per night.
Mitch Woods leads the Tars in scoring at 12.8 points a game, the transfer from Appalachian State is coming off a four point performance against Lynn. Blessig puts up 9.9 a game- Blessig and Woods share the team lead in assists at three a contest. Jeff Dirkin leads the Tars in rebounding at 5.9 a night. To get back in the win column the Tars will need to get some more production from Adam Allen who is now scoring 9.4 a game after a tough stretch in the last four games.
The Sharks come in with a record of 5-10 and 2-2 in the SSC. It has been a up and down season for the Sharks highlighted by a win over DI Florida International. The Sharks are coming off a 72-70 win over Barry on Wednesday. Stian Berg poured in 21 to lead the Sharks in that one and Chris Page added 15.
Brian Cahill is the top scorer for the Sharks at 13.4 a contest. Page puts up 12.9 a contest, Justin Jeangerrard scores 12.5 a game, Berg and Ryan Steed each post 10 a night. Casey Carroll leads the Sharks on the boards at 5.3 a night.
The Sharks are sixth in the conference in scoring at 74.9 a game. They are last in the league on defense giving up 78.1 a game.
