The Rollins Tars will finish a rugged stretch where they will have played seven games in 11 days Tuesday. It will be the Tars fourth game in five days when they take on Puerto Rico Mayaguez at Warden Arena.
Rollins (3-3) snapped a three game losing skid with a big second half in a 83-57 win over Bayamon Monday night. All 11 Tars who played Monday scored. Jeff Merton led four Tars in double figures with 13 points. Mike Bedulskis and Scott Schuette (12 each) along with Jeff Dirkin also scored in double digits. The Tars scored 30 points off 22 Bayamon turnovers in the win.
Puerto Rico Mayaguez (0-3)was a 77-73 loser to Florida Tech on Monday night. Mayaguez had four players score in double figures in a losing effort at the Clemente Center. Alexander Rivera had a double-double to lead the way (15 points and 10 rebounds.) Francisco Lopez netted 13- Alexander Curet chipped in 12- and Giovani Guzman scored 10 for the Tarzans. They shot 39 percent from the field and went 7-23 from the 3-point line. The Tarzans shot 74 percent (14-19) at the free throw line. Mayaguez won the rebounding battle 42-37. They had 15 assists and 16 turnovers.
