The Rollins Tars (2-1) coming off a disappointing 66-60 loss to Warner in the home opener Tuesday head to Charlotte for the Johnson C.Smith Tip Off Classic where they will battle Livingstone on Friday.
The Tars are 2-0 on the road thus far this season, with wins over Clark-Atlanta and Paine. Friday will be the third time this season the Tars will play an opponent they have never faced before.
Chris Uhle had four blocks in the game on Tuesday and surpassed Chris Malcolm as the Tars all-time leader in blocked shots for a career with 120. Uhle added nine points and six rebounds in the loss. Alex Blessig led the Tars with 19 points-while Scott Schuette added 11 with three assists.
Rollins has four players averaging double figures on the season. Uhle leads the way scoring 13.3 points a game. He also is grabbing 6-7 rebounds and dishing out 3.6 assists a night. Blessig puts up 12.3 a game to go along with 3.3 assists- while Schuette (12.3 ppg) and Sharif Almulla (10.3 a contest) also average double figures.
The Blue Bears will play what is the opener for them on Friday. The Blue Bears faced Duke in an exhibition game, falling 115-58 on November 4th. Cornelius Johnson led the Blue Bears with 12 points against the Blue Devils- Ty Newman and Christian Henry each scored eight for Livingstone. Duke led 56-14 at the half before the Blue Bears played a much better second half.
The Blue Bears are coming off a 21-8 season a year ago and a trip to the NCAA tournament. The Blue Bears nearly pulled off a stunning upset but fell 99-98 to East Stroudsburg in regional play. The Blue Bears were picked first this season in the CIAA.
