23rd Ranked Tars Run Win Streak to Ten!

The Rollins College Tars continued their domination of the Sunshine State conference Wednesday with a 70-54 win over Barry in Miami Shores,Fla. The win was the Tars tenth in a row. Rollins improved to 19-4 overall and 11-1 in the SSC. The Tars closest pursuer in the conference is Florida Southern at 8-3. Nick Wolf paced the Tars with 22 points and 9 rebounds. It was the 80th straight game in double figures for the Senior from Cincinnati. Wolf needs just 31 points to pass his uncle Jeff Wolf for third on the all time scoring list at Rollins. Matt Robertson chipped in 14 points on 5 of 8 shooting. Ian Scott was 3-3 from the field and 5 of 6 at the free throw line to net 13. Nikola Baran rounded out the Tars double digit scorers with 10 points including a pair of treys. Rollins had a great night shooting the ball against the best defensive team in the SSC. The Tars shot 54% for the game. They were a red-hot 68% in the second half. The Tars went just 5-20 from three point land. They were 15-20 at the free throw line. The Tars tallied 10 assists and turned the ball over just 6 times. They won the battle on the glass 29-22. The win streak for the Tars is the longest since a ten game streak back in the 2007-08 season.
 Barry fell to 7-14 and 4-8 in the SSC. They shot 41% from the floor. The Buccaneers had a solid night from three point land where they were 10-28 (36%). Barry struggled at the foul line going just 4-8. They had 16 assists and 9 turnovers. Three Buccaneers tallied double numbers on the night. Zach Trapp led the way with 17 points behind a 5-9 effort from long range. Bryan Van Cott netted 11 while Willie Whitfield was held in check with 10 points and 7 rebounds.
 The game started with both teams struggling on offense in the early going. After Ian Scott made two free throws with 14:47 in the first half the game was tied at 5. The Tars would stretch the lead out to 10 (23-13) on a Scott lay up with 5:59 in the half. The Tars would lead 29-17 at the half.
  The Rollins lead would stretch out to 16 early in the second half. Barry would make a run and get the lead down to 6 on a Whitfield free throw with 9:43 left in the game. Then the Tars would take control in the final 9:43 to march on to the 70-54 win.
  The Tars will be back in action Saturday when they welcome the Lions of Saint Leo to Warden Arena. Saint Leo comes in at 10-12 overall and 1-11 in the SSC. Rollins won the first meeting 85-73 at Saint Leo on January 15th. Tip time for Saturday is set for 4 PM.
