The Rollins College Tars continue to impress. The latest victory for the Tars was a 71-60 win over Eckerd at the McArthur Center. With the win Rollins improves to 18-4 overall and 10-1 in the SSC. The Tritons fell to 15-6 overall and 6-5 in the SSC.
Three players scored in double figures on the day led by a game high 22 points from Myk Brown. Nick Wolf added 12 points and 11 rebounds on his 22nd birthday. Wolf continued two of his three streaks. The senior from Cincinnati had a double-double for the sixth straight game and continued his run of consecutive games with at least ten points to 79 games. Wolf failed to score 20 points for the first time in his last seven contests. Matt Robertson also added 12 for the Tars. The Tars shot 23-47 (49%) in the game. They shot at a 35 percent clip (6-17) from long range. The Tars shot 79% (19-24) at the free throw line. They had 10 assists along with 12 turnovers.
The Tritons only had two players in double figures.Dale Carn led Eckerd with 16 points. He just missed a double-double with 9 rebounds. John Harper added 15 for the Tritons. The Tritons shot 22-58 (38%) from the field. They were just 9 of 30 in the second half. The Tritons hit 7 of 17 treys. Harper was 4 of 6 from long range. They were 9-12 (75%) at the foul line. The Tritons won the boards battle 33-32. Eckerd had 12 assists to go with 13 turnovers.
The Tritons led the entire first half. They were up by as many as 8 (35-27). Matt Robertson scored the last four points of the half to get the Tars within 4. After Eckerd scored the first bucket of the second half the Tars went on a 11-0 burst to take a 44-39 lead. Nikola Baran buried a three to make the lead five. The tars would push that lead out to 10 (57-47) on a Myk Brown trey. Eckerd would get as close as 4 (61-57) before the Tars would seal it at the foul line. The Tars will hit the road as they will take on Barry Wednesday night. Tip time in Miami Shores,Fla. is set for 7:30 PM.
