Cold Shooting Tars No Match For #7 NSU.

The cold shooting Rollins Tars continued to struggle Wednesday night at the Shark Tank on the campus of Nova Southeastern. It was NSU who would roll to the 87-58 win and season sweep of Rollins. With the win the Sharks remained in first place in the SSC with a record of 18-2 and 12-2 in the SSC. Rollins fell to 9-13 and 3-11 in the SSC as they lost for the ninth time in the last 10 contests.
  A pair of Rollins players scored in double figures in the loss- as both Hutton Yenor and Trevor Recio each tallied 13 points- while Jakobi Bonner added seven points and three assists. Eric Castaneda led the Tars on the glass with nine rebounds. The Tars shot a frigid 31 percent from the field- as well as 32 percent (7-22) from the 3-point line. Rollins shot 87 percent (13-15) from the free throw line. The Tars had 14 assists and 15 turnovers in the defeat.
 NSU had four players score in double figures paced by 17 points each from Nick Smith and Mikkel Kolstad. Mark Matthews had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds- while David Dennis netted 11. The Sharks shot 48 percent as a team- 42 percent (17-41) from the 3-point line- and- 44 percent (4-9) from the free throw line. The Sharks out-rebounded there hosts 44-38. They had 26 assists and 11 turnovers as a team.
 Little doubt was left in who would control this contest. NSU led 13-6 five and a half minutes into this one. After a 9-0 run by NSU- the Tars would respond with the next seven to cut the lead to 22-13 after a Bonner layup at the 9:59 mark of the half. The lead would be 15 (41-23) as Dwayne Gibson would hit a pair of 3-pointer's for NSU with 3:04 left in the opening half. Rollins would pull to within 12 (41-29) after a Recio 3-pointer but NSU would hit the last bucket of the half to lead 43-29 heading into the locker room.
 Yenor led the Tars with 11 of his 13 points in the opening 20 minutes- while Recio added seven. The Tars shot 31 percent as a team- 30 percent from the 3-point line (3-10-) and- 86 percent (6-7) from the free throw line in the opening stanza. Rollins had seven assists and three turnovers in the half.
 NSU was led by Smith and Kolstad with 11 points each. They shot 55 percent as a team- 53 percent (9-17) from the 3-point line- and- 29 percent (2-7) from the free throw line. The Sharks led on the glass 20-19. They had 12 assists and five turnovers in the half.
 The Sharks would quickly expand the lead to 20+ in the early stages of the second half. They would lead by as many as 34 and cruise to victory.
 Rollins will look to get back in the win column Saturday when they take on Palm Beach Atlantic at Warden Arena. Tip time is set for 4 PM and you can catch all the action on RollinsSports.com
