The Rollins Tars headed to Miami Shores for a battle with Barry on Saturday. It would be the home team that would come away with a 76-61 win in this one. Rollins falls to 9-16 and 3-14 in the SSC with the loss- while Barry improved to 14-9 and 9-7 in the SSC.
Jakobi Bonner led the Tars with 16 points- Hutton Yenor chipped in 11- while Eric Castenada- and- Trevor Recio each netted 10. The Tars shot 32 percent from the field- 22 percent (8-36) from the 3-point line- and- 93 percent (13-14) from the free throw line. They had 14 assists and 10 turnovers as a team.
Barry was led by Tylan Birts with 22 points- while Daniel Mortensen and Marko Tomic scored 12 points each. The Buccaneers shot 47 percent from the field- 35 percent from the 3-point line (6-17-) and- 82 percent (14-17) from the free throw line. Each team had 32 rebounds. The Bucs had 23 assists and 15 turnovers.
The game was tied at 8 after the first five minutes of play. Nils Lehman hit a pair of free throws and the Tars would take a 21-19 lead at the 9:39 mark of the opening half. It would be Barry who would grab the lead and expand it to eight (39-31) at halftime.
Rollins was led by Recio and Yenor with eight each in the opening half. The Tars shot 30 percent as a team- 29 percent (6-21) from the 3-point line- and- made all seven free throw attempts. They had eight assists and five turnovers in the first 20 minutes.
Barry was paced by Birts with 15- and- Tomic with six in the half. They shot 52 percent from the field- 29 percent (2-7) from the 3-point line- and- 71 percent (5-7) at the free throw line. They had 13 assists and five turnovers in the half.
Rollins would get to within six (41-35) after a pair of Castaneda free throws. Barry would then go on a 10-0 run to stretch the lead to 16 (51-35.) The Bucs would lead by as many as 22- and- the Tars would get no closer than 10 the rest of the way.
