Rollins Snaps Losing Skid Wednesday.

The Rollins Tars snapped a nine game losing slide- and- handed the Florida Tech Panthers there ninth straight loss 84-72 at the Clemente Center Wednesday. With the win the Tars improve to 10-17 and 4-15 in the SSC. Florida Tech drops to 8-19 and 2-17 in the SSC with the loss.
  Connor McKim led five Rollins players in double figures with 27 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists in the win. Trevor Recio tallied a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds- while Hutton Yenor scored 14- Jakobi Bonner added 13- and- Eric Castaneda tallied 10 in the victory. Rollins shot 49 percent as a team- 41 percent (11-27) from the 3-point line- and- 50 percent (9-18) at the free throw line. Rollins dominated the rebounding battle 46-31. They had 19 assists- and- 13 turnovers as a team.
 Derek Murphy poured in a game high 40 points to lead the Panthers in a losing effort. Trey Schaneville was the only other Tech player in double figures with 15. The Panthers shot 44 percent as a team- 23 percent (6-26) from the 3-point line- and- 50 percent (10-20) at the free throw line. The Panthers had 10 assists- and- 10 turnovers.
 Rollins would score the first five points- and- jump out to a 11-2 lead four minutes in. The lead would be trimmed to one- before McKim would go on a personal 5-0 run to make the lead six (17-11) with 11:20 left in the first half. The lead would be five (20-15) halfway thru the opening stanza. Jakoi Bonner would knock down a 3-pointer at the 1:45 mark of the half- and- The Tars would lead by 10 (35-25.)  After a FIT 3-pointer- Yenor would score the last four points of the half to give the Tars a 11 point lead (39-28) at the break.
  McKim led the Tars with 16 in the opening half- while Recio had seven- and- 10 rebounds. The Tars shot 38 percent from the field in the first half- 28 percent (5-18) from the 3-point line- and- 33 percent (2-6) at the free throw line. The Tars had 10 assists- and- three turnovers in the opening half.
  Murphy had 20 to pace the Panthers in the opening 20 minutes- while Antonio Pefanis- and- Darius Wright each had three. The Panthers shot 37 percent from the field in the first half- 30 percent (3-10) from the 3-point line- and- 33 percent (3-9) at the free throw line. They had six assists- and- four turnovers in the half.
  The Panthers pulled within four early in the second half- before a 5-0 run by Recio made it 49-40 Tars with 14:42 to go. The lead would be expanded to 14 (63-49) after a McKim 3-ball with 8:36 to go. The next six points would go the way of FIT to cut the lead to 63-55. Bonner would score a pair of baskets- while Murphy hit a 3-pointer for the Panthers. The Panthers would go on a 8-0 run to get to within four (72-68) after a 3-pointer by Schaneville with 3:25 remaining. Rollins would score the next seven points- and- cruise to victory from there.
 Rollins will be back in action Saturday with the finale of the campaign when they travel to Lakeland to battle Florida Southern. Tip time is 7:30 PM and you can catch all the action on RollinsSports.com
