Rollins Hosts Saint Leo In Finale/ Senior Day.

The Rollins Tars will host the Saint Leo Lions in what is the team's regular season finale, and also Senior day. Senior's Joey Galvis, Jack Fleming and Mike Bedulskis will be on honored prior to the 4 PM tip at Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center. You can catch all the action on RollinsSports.com and 91.5 FM WPRK Winter Park, with Jim"Shooter" Ferro and Robert Segal on the call.
The Tars come into Saturday riding a four game win streak. Last time out they were a 88-69 winner over Tampa at the Bob Martinez Center.  The Tars will be the third seed in the upcoming SSC tournament and will host the sixth seed in Wednesday SSC tournament opener. Rollins will look to avoid the fate they suffered a year ago, where they were the third seed and were defeated by sixth seeded Lynn in the SSC Tournament First Round.
Rollins (17-10 11-6 SSC) is fourth in the SSC in scoring at 81.3 points per night. At the other end they allow a league sixth best 80 points a contest.  The Tars lead the Sunshine State Conference in 3-point shooting, where they shoot 42 percent as a team.
Individually the Tars are led by Sam Philpott who scores 14.9 points a game- he also grabs 4.2 rebounds a contest.  Jeff Merton scores 14 points a contest and averages a team leading 5.6 rebounds as well. Connor McKim has come on strong in the season's second half and scores 10.6 points and leads the team in assists at 3.8 per night. Galvis will play his final regular season game in Warden Arena and averages 10.3 points- as well as a SSC leading 2.3 steals a contest.  The Tars are 10-3 at home on the season.  They entered the South Region Rankings this past Wednesday, with the top eight gaining a berth in the 2017 NCAA South Regional.
Saint Leo (12-15 6-11 SSC) is fighting for a big in the SSC tournament. The Lions currently would not be in the field and need a win plus some help to get into the SSC tournament. The Lions have lost three straight, most recently a 88-82 loss to Eckerd on Wednesday. They have struggled on the road this season, as they are just 3-8 away from the Marion Bowman Activities Center this year.
As a team the Lions average 78.7 points a game- while on the defensive end they give up 78.6 a night.  Indiviually Marcus Dewberry is third in the league and leads the Lions scoring 20 points a game- he also averages 5.2 rebounds and five assists a night.  Dewberry has eclipsed the 30-point mark four times this season, including 35 versus Eckerd last time out.  Justin Satchell is second on the team putting up 15.7 points per game and leads the team in rebounding (6.9 a night.)  Tyreece Brice averages 12.1 points and 4.1 assists a game.
The two teams met earlier this season with Rollins pulling out a 77-72 victory. Connor McKim led the way with 15 in that game- while Dewberry poured in a game high 33 for Saint Leo.
