Tars Head To Tampa Saturday.

Coming off easily the program's biggest win of the season Wednesday night, the Rollins Tars head to Tampa for a showdown with the Spartans on Saturday. The two teams are jockeying for position in the upcoming SSC tournament.  Rollins has a half game lead over the Spartans for the third spot in the conference. The top four teams host the opening round of the conference tournament before the remainder of the tournament goes to the ICI Center in Daytona Beach.
  Rollins (16-10 10-6 SSC) has won three straight and eight of the last 10. The Tars were a winner in a 90-85 thriller over #17 Barry the last time out.  Jeff Merton scored 22 to lead the Tars in that victory.
  The Tars are led in the season box score by Sam Philpott who scores 14.8 points a night. Philpott is coming off a 18 point outing against Barry- while-Merton scores 14.2 points a contest and grabs 5.5 rebounds- Joey Galvis is averaging 10.2 points and 2.3 steals a night. He is 18th in the nation in steals and is coming off a six steal game Wednesday against Barry. Connor McKim has had a big second half of the season and is now scoring 10.2 a game and has dished out a team leading 96 assists on the year. They average 81 points a night- while they allow 80.5 a contest.  Rollins is 5-5 on the road thus far this season.
  Tampa (16-9 9-6 SSC) is coming off a thrilling one point win over Florida Southern last time out.  The Spartans have won two straight, including breaking Barry's 31 game home win streak.  The Spartans are 10-2 at home this season.  Tampa scores 77.7 points a game as a team- but they allow 74. 5 a night.
  Marcel Robinson is the top scorer for the Spartans at 14.6 a night- Duke Shelton averages a double-double (14.3 points and 10.2 rebounds a contest.)  Austin Rettig comes in scoring 13 a night- while Pat Bacon scores 11.9 a contest. For the second consecutive game the Tars are facing one of the league's top assist men, as Matt Johnson is averaging 5.7 assists per night.
 In the first meeting it was 81-73 the Spartans came out on top. Merton led Rollins with 25 in a losing effort- while Marcel Robinson poured in a game high 33 for the Spartans.
