The Rollins Tars carry a four game win streak into the Clemente Center Wednesday where they will battle the Florida Tech Panthers. Rollins comes in with a record of 12-7 overall and 8-3 in the SSC. Last time out the Tars upset #19 Barry 94-82 and joined the Bucs along with Eckerd in a three way tie atop the SSC. Rollins had five players score in double figures on Saturday led by reigning SSC Player Of The Week Sam Philpott who scored a game high 23 points. Connor McKim scored 17- Jeff Merton had 16- while Jack Fleming scored 12 off the bench. Eric Castaneda added 10 for the Tars. Philpott leads the Tars in scoring and is fifth in the SSC at better than 21 points per night- Merton puts up nearly 15.5 per contest- while McKim is also averaging in double figures and leads the team in assists. Deion Clark and Eric Castaneda also average double figures on the year. The Tars were averaging 84.4 points per game before putting up 94 on Saturday. On the defensive end they allow 81.5 points per night.
The Panthers were a 90-71 loser to Eckerd last time out. Patrick Anderson led three Panthers in double figures with 18 points. Sam Daniels added 17- and- Jordan Majors had 15. Daniels paces FIT in scoring at 25.7 points a game and also grabs 7.1 rebounds a contest. Majors pours in 21.5 a night- Anderson scores 12.4 a contest- and- Richard Coil puts up 11.9 points a game. As a team the Panthers score 85.3 points per game- while they allow 83.4 per contest.
The two teams split a pair of meetings last season. The first being a 90-75 Florida Tech win on 11/30. The second meeting was a 91-82 Rollins win in Winter Park.
