Rollins-Southern Renew Rivalry Saturday in Lakeland.

The Rollins Tars and Florida Southern Moccasins will renew their rivalry at Jenkins FieldHouse in Lakeland on Saturday night at 730 PM. You can catch all the action on RollinsSports.com. The Mocs come into the game 7-2 at home on the season- while the Tars are 1-3 on the road this season.
  Rollins (10-7 6-3 SSC) is tied for second place in the SSC with Eckerd. The Tars were a 71-69 winner over Tampa on a Jeff Merton buzzer-beating 3-pointer on Wednesday night. Sam Philpott led the way with 16 points and nine rebounds in the victory. Merton scored 15- While Connor McKim added 13.  Philpott comes into the game leading the Tars and seventh in the SSC averaging 20 points a game. Merton scores 14.4 a night- while Deion Clark averages 12 points and 4.5 rebounds a contest. Eric Castaneda (11.6 ppg-) and- McKim (11.0 ppg-) also score in double figures. the Tars average 81.5 a game- while they give up 79.9 a contest.
 Florida Southern (9-7 3-5 SSC) is coming off a 102-80 thrashing by #11 Barry Wednesday.  Johnathan Lawton led the way with 19 points- while- Brett Hanson scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds.  Lawton leads the Mocs in scoring at 19.8 points per game.  Hanson averages 16.2 points- and- grabs 7.4 rebounds a night.  Tyler Ross (10.9 ppg-) and- Jack Rausch (10.5 ppg) are also averaging double figures.  Rausch averages 7.9 rebounds a game as well. Southern scores 84.4 ppg- while they give up 81.4 per game.
  The Tars won both meetings last season. The first a 102-91 win in Winter Park on 11/21. Then on 1/25 the Tars were a 94-88 winner in Lakeland. Jeff Merton needs just 15 points to pass Curt Fiser for 15th in school history in scoring. He needs 25 to pass Gary Parsons for 14th- and- 35 behind Larry Martinez for 13th.
 Merton needs six 3-pointer's to pass Jonny Rebel for fifth all time in 3-pointer's made.  Philpott is 23rd in points scored and can pass Scott Martin (needs two points-) Caleb Springer needs 18 to pass him- and- 45 points to tie Kyle Rich.
 The Tars will be back in action a week from Saturday when they take on #11 Barry at Warden Arena.
