Brett Chance had a career night Wednesday. The Red Shirt Junior scored 18 points as Rollins knocked off Barry 57-47 in Miami Shores, Florida. Myk Brown added 16 for a Tars team that only suited up seven players. The Tars with the win improved to 16-9 overall and 9-6 in the SSC. Barry fell to 12-15 and 6-9 in the conference. The Tars shot 41 percent from the field and hit 8 of 24 from the 3-point line. The Tars were nearly automatic, going 11 of 12 at the foul line. The Tars out rebounded Barry 40-37. Rollins had 11 assists to go along with 14 turnovers.
For Barry, a pair of players scored in double figures. Jermaine Edwards led the way with 14 points, while Evan White added 13. Bryan Van Cott netted nine for the hosts. The Bucs shot 28 percent from the field and hit just 6-29 from the 3-point line. BU struggled at the foul line going just 7-15. They had seven assists and seven turnovers.
The Tars were the team that got off to the quick start in this one. The visitors from Winter Park jumped out to a 14-6 lead midway thru the first half. Barry went on a run and cut the lead to 19-17 with 6:20 in the opening half. The Tars closed on a 10-1 run to take a 29-18 lead into the locker room.
The second half was hard fought. The Tars led by 12 three different times before the Bucs fought back. Barry cut the lead to four (43-39) with four minutes left. The Tars got a chance three and some clutch foul shooting late to get a much needed road win.
