Tars Welcome Struggling Spartans Wednesday.

The Rollins College Tars (14-5 7-2 SSC) are back in action on Wednesday when they host the Tampa Spartans (4-15 0-9 SSC) at Warden Arena.
The Tars are coming off a thrilling 76-71 road win over Florida Southern. That win coupled with a one point Florida Tech loss to Eckerd  has the Tars sitting alone atop the Sunshine State Conference. The Tars lead both Eckerd and Florida Tech by a game in the standings. The win on Saturday was the Tars first in Lakeland since the 2007 season. Jeremy Sharpe led five Tars in double figures on the evening with 18 points. SSC Player of the week Dave Diakite added 11 points and 11 rebounds to add to his stellar play of late. Chris Malcolm netted 15 to go along with nine rebounds. Scott Schuette came up big with 11 points off the bench after Brett Chance was lost to a knee injury. Myk Brown added 11 points, all in the second half. The Tars come in averaging 70 points a contest as a team while giving up 66 points a ball game. The Tars continue to lead the conference in field goal percentage defense. The defense only allows the opponents to shoot at a 40 percent clip on the season. Four of the five Tar starters come into Wednesday averaging double figures on the season. Diakite leads the way at 12.2 points and 5.3 rebounds a game. Myk Brown and Jeremy Sharpe each put up 11 a night, while Chris Malcolm tallies 10.6 a contest to go along with 7.1 rebounds.
The Spartans come in on eight game losing skid. They are looking for their first win of the 2012 campaign. The Spartans were a 68-59 loser to Lynn on Saturday. Terrell Pritchett scored 16 to lead the Spartans, while Ashton Graham added 12. Ashton Graham leads the Spartans in scoring on the season at 13.1 points and 4.8 rebounds a contest.
