Tars Begin Quest For Three Peat Wednesday.

The fourth seeded Rollins College Tars, winners of the last two Sunshine State Conference Tournament titles begin their quest for a third straight Wednesday when they host Florida Southern at 7:30 . The Tars are looking to right the ship after a rough end to the season, that saw them go 2-5. After starting out the season 7-0, the Tars went just 9-10 the rest of the way. Rollins has had little success both as the number four seed (3-7) and against Florida Southern (0-11). The Tars did sweep a pair of meeting with the Mocs in the regular season. A year ago, the Tars rode the hot hand of Most Outstanding Player Nick Wolf to the tournament title. Myk Brown is the Tars leading scorer at 12.9 points a contest, Chris Malcolm stuffs the stat sheet with 11 points, more than six rebounds and a SSC leading 2.6 blocks a game. Malcolm is the all-time Tar leader in blocked shots. Dave Diakite puts up 10.2 points a night. Ian Scott is the only Tar who started all 26 games this season. The Senior from Mount Dora puts up 8.2 points and four assists a game.
Florida Southern had the same record (9-7) as Rollins on the SSC season but was the fifth seed by virtue of the two losses to the Tars. The Mocs have four players averaging double numbers on the season. Seth Evans leads the way at 17.3 points per game, Brett Bailey adds 14.5 a night. Kevin Capers (14.3 a game) had a season high 30 in 84-78 loss in Winter Park. Dominic Lane puts in 12 a game to round out the double digit scorers. The Mocs average 81.5 a game, but give up nearly 76 (75.7 a contest). The winner will advance to Saturday's semifinals hosted by Florida Southern  to face the winner of top seeded Florida Tech vs eighth seeded Lynn As always you can catch the Tars broadcast on WPRK Winter Park and www.RollinsSports.com
