Tars Head To Lakeland For SSC Clash With Rival Mocs Wednesday.

The Rollins Tars (7-11 0-7 SSC) head to Lakeland on Wednesday night to take on the third ranked Florida Southern Moccasins at Jenkins Fieldhouse, As always you can catch all the action on the Geico Tars Sports Network worldwide at RollinsSports.com and on 91.5 FM WPRK Winter Park.
The Tars come into the game on a six game losing slide. Four of the six losses being by four points or fewer.  The last time out Rollins was a 85-74 loser to Tampa at Warden Arena.  Sharif Almulla led Rollins with 15 points in the loss to Tampa. Kyle Koszuta and James Ferrell sparked a late Rollins push that would fall short in the end. After being down by 21 with 3:34 to play, the Tars got to within seven in the final minute.  Ferrell (11) and Koszuta (10) each had career highs in the loss and could very well have picked up some additional minutes for Wednesday's game with the Tars in need of a spark.
Alex Blessig comes into the contest leading the team in scoring at 11.2 points per game. The junior adds 4.1 assists and 2.3 steals a night. Just as his team has, Blessig has struggled during the losing skid. He is coming off a five point- six turnover performance on Saturday.  Chris Uhle is the only other Rollins player in double figures. Uhle is putting up 10.5 points a night- he is second in the SSC with 39 3-pointer's made.  The all- time leader in blocks for the Tars, Uhle has blocked 37 shots this year which is good for third in the conference.
The Tars continue to have a solid year on the defensive end, where they are giving up a league second best 66.3 points a game. At the other end, Rollins is eighth in the league, scoring just 68.1points a night.
The high powered Mocs come in with a 17-1 record and are ranked third in all of DII.  The only loss was a 107-102 defeat to Barry at "The Jenkins."  The last time out the Mocs knocked off 24th ranked Lynn 87-77 in Boca Raton Saturday.  Two Mocs scored in double figures in that one, led by Stephen Battle with 24- while Dominique Williams contributed 16 off the bench.
The Mocs are led by SSC leading scorer Kevin Capers who comes in averaging 22.1 points per game.  That total is good for 13th in the country in DII.  Battle (13.6 ppg.) and Dylan Travis (11.6 a night) are also posting double figures on the season.
The Mocs lead the SSC scoring a national fourth best 92.6 points per game.  They allow 77.4, which is good for eighth in the league.
