The Rollins Tars and Saint Leo Lions will meet for the 101st time Saturday at Warden Arena in Winter Park. Despite winning the conference last season Leo went 0-2 against Rollins. You can catch all the action on 91.5 FM WPRK and worldwide at RollinsSports.com
Rollins (7-6 0-2 SSC) is coming off a tough 73-64 loss to #8 Barry in Winter Park Wednesday. The Tars led by 12 in the early stages of the second half but could not handle the Bucs pressure in the second half. Chris Uhle had a career day with 23 points on 5-of-7 shooting in the loss. Jeff Merton added 12- while Sharif Almulla added eight.
Alex Blessig is the Tars leading scorer at 11.6 a game. The junior is coming off his second one point game of the season on Wednesday. Not surprisingly the Tars lost both contests (Seattle Pacific.) Blessig adds 3.9 assists and 2.4 steals per night. Uhle is coming off his best game in a Tars uniform. The big man from Ocala is putting up 10.4 a night. He also grabs 4.6 rebounds a contest.
The Tars are second in the SSC on the defensive end allowing just 66.7 points per game. The Tars are eighth in the league on offense scoring 70.8 points a night.
Saint Leo (9-5 1-2 SSC) has won five of the last six. The last time out the Lions fell 71-66 to seventh ranked Florida Southern. Similar to the Tars and Barry, Leo led for much of the way but could not hold off the highly ranked Mocs. Just like Rollins Leo had a 12 point lead before falling. Devin Crisosto led the way with 13 for the Lions- while Edmunds Dukullis added 12 in the defeat.
Ron Foxx leads the Lions and is fourth in the SSC at 15.6 points a game. Crisosto is second on the team at 10.4 a night- Marcus Dewberry also averages double figures at 10.3 per night.
