Tars Roll Past Pesky Lions.

The Rollins College Tars (7-5) had a second solid game in as many days with a 71-47 victory over the Lions of Florida Memorial at Warden Arena Saturday.
  The Tars were led by a pair of double figure scorers.  Jeff Merton led the way with 11 for Rollins- while Sam Phillpott had a career high 10.  That Tars also got nine from Chris Uhle- to go along with eight each from Scott Schuette and Alex Blessig.
 The Tars shot 54 percent from the floor- and were 9-22 from the 3-point line.  The Tars had 23 assists- 14 turnovers- and went- four of six at the foul line. James Ferrell led the Tars with eight assists.
  The Lions (1-9) only dressed six players in the contest.  They had a pair in double figures.  Hanif Malloy had a game high 17- Isaiah King added 16 as well.  The Lions shot 40 percent from the floor- and went six of 13 from the 3-point line.  They shot 46 percent (3-7) at the foul line.  The Lions won the rebounding battle 30-27.  They had 15 assists and 24 turnovers.
   The game would start with the Lions scoring the first four points. The Tars would then go on  a 16-0 run and take a 16-4 lead at the 10:15 mark on the opening half.  The lead would be trimmed to eight a couple times but the Tars would stretch the lead to 17 (33-16) at halftime.
   The game would be between 15 and 20 for the beginning stages of the opening half before the Tars would open up a 25 point lead (52-27) at the 8:27 mark.  The Tars would lead by as many a 27 and roll to the win.
  Rollins will be back in action Wednesday when they battle Barry at the Warden Arena Wednesday. Tip time is 7:30 PM.
