Two Of The Winning Coaches in DII Meet As Tampa Comes To Winter Park Saturday.

Two of the winningest coaches in all of DII basketball will be in the house when the Rollins Tars and Tampa Spartans do battle at Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center.
 Richard Shmidt is in his 32nd year at Tampa while Tom Klusman is in his 35th running Rollins.  Only four coaches in DII have more wins than Klusman, Shmidt being one of them.You can catch all the action the Geico Tars Sports Network with Jim "Shooter" Ferro and Robert Siegel on the call.
  The Tars (7-10 0-6 SSC) come in having dropped five straight.  All fives losses have been by single digits.  The last time out the Tars were a 69-65 loser to Florida Tech at the Clemente Center in a game that they led 62-55 with six minutes to go.  Alex Blessig had a solid all around game with 17 points- eight rebounds- and- seven assists in the loss.  Jeff Merton added 13.
 Rollins is led by Blessig who is scoring 11.5 points a game- to go along with 4.2 assists- and- 2.4 steals a night.  Chris Uhle is putting up 10.7 a game.  The big man from Ocala is second in the conference with 38 made 3-pointer's.  Uhle also is the all-time blocked shot leader at Rollins and has 36 on the year.  That is good for second in the league.
 The Tars continue to be solid on the defensive end where they allow a league second best 65.4 points a game.  At the other end they only score 67.9 per contest.
 Klusman has 630 career wins.  Only three active coaches have more.  Herb Magee of Philadelphia, Bob Chipman from Washburn and Shmidt have more than the Rollins coach.
  The Spartans (10-6 3-3 SSC) come in having won four of five.  The last time out they fell 81-75 to sixth ranked Florida Southern.  The Spartans led at half and early in the second but could not hang on for the upset.  Eugene McCrory led the Spartans with 22 points against FSC- they also got a double-double from Othnniel Shelton who had 18 points and 10 rebounds.
 McCrory nearly averages a double-double on the season (17.4 points and 9.9 rebounds a night.)  Jordan Davis is having a solid season and was last week's SSC player of the week. Davis is putting up 15.6 points- 7.2 rebounds- and 6.8 assists per night.  Austin Rettig is also averaging double figures at 14.2 a night.
 The Spartans are scoring 74.2 points per game- while they give up 69.2 a contest.
