The Rollins Tars (6-5) fresh off a 89-61 thrashing of Palm Beach Atlantic Friday afternoon will continue a five game home stand against Florida Memorial (1-8) Saturday at 2 PM at Warden Arena. Four Tars scored in double figures led by leading scorer on the day and the season Alex Blessig. Blessig puts up 12.5 a game before scoring 17 Friday. Jeff Dirkin added a season high 16. His third straight game in double figures. Sharif Almulla continued his torrid shooting of late scoring 14 points. He came in averaging 9.1 a night. Scott Schuette scored six. He was averaging 9.6 a game before Friday. Jeff Merton stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points- six rebounds- and five assists. The Tars won the rebounding battle 35-28, one game after getting drubbed on the boards 41-13 by Seattle Pacific. The Tars had 27 assists (Kyle Koszuta led the way with seven.) and took much better care of the ball (10 turnovers.)
Florida Memorial (1-8) was a 53-45 loser to Edward Waters last time out. The Lions were led by 13 points each from Isiah King and Hanif Malloy. They shot 37 percent from the field- and went 1- of- 12 from the 3-point line in the loss.
The Lions have one player, Samuel Dorismond in double figures (22 ppg.) He did not play in the loss to Edward Waters. At the time of this story the reason was not known. Shaquille Harding puts up 8.9 a game- while Malloy puts up 8.4 a night.
The Lions score 61.4 a game- while giving up 77.2 on the defensive end. Depth could be a key in this one. The Lions only played six players in the loss to Edward Waters.
